Why Green Enterprise?

Global climate change has the potential to impact on us all, wherever we live, so everyone has a role to play in tackling this threat. At Guernsey Electricity we also recognise that, as a power company, we have a responsibility to show leadership in this area, and are in a unique position to enable islanders to make real change for themselves. Of course we have a duty to reduce the impact our own operations have on the environment, however our commitment goes much further. It means investing in technologies that can provide cleaner, greener energy; promoting more efficient and sustainable electricity use; and delivering products and services that can reduce the island’s reliance on fossil fuels.

 

This commitment is demonstrated by our Green Enterprise initiative, which provides a focus for Guernsey Electricity’s environmental activities as well as the means by which we can deliver these goals. Launched in October 2007, the initiative has had a profound influence on staff attitudes and working practices and a positive impact on our carbon footprint.

Mission Statement

Our green commitment is to minimise the environmental impact of our business, to be pro-active in providing energy efficient solutions for the community, and to investigate alternative sources of energy that could make a viable contribution to the island’s electricity needs.
